Pipili / Pipli – A famous cottage industry in Bhubaneswar

Pipili (also known as Pipli) is a town and important cottage industry dedicated for production of beautiful Appliqué handicrafts. Pipli village is 20 km from Bhubaneswar city. Applique art the process in which different small pieces of coloured cloths are arranged and stitched to give shapes of birds, flowers, animals, lamp shade, hand bag, garden umbrella and other decorative motif.

Numerous shops offer beautifully decorated Appliqué articles at reasonable and decent prices. In Pipili this trade has employed great number of rural women artisans and it is their prime source of revenue.
