Bhubaneswar, the ‘Temple City of India’ is the capital city of Orissa. The city’s history from the third century B.C. is symbolized in the nearby Dhauligiri rock proclamation of emperor Ashoka at the site of his famous Kalinga war. Between the fifth and tenth centuries A.D. Bhubaneswar was the provincial capital of many Hindu dynasties.

Bhubaneswar is on the national highway between Kolkata and Chennai, on the Southeastern Railway, and has a modern airport. In the surrounding area of the city it is must to see the attractive tourist points like rock-cut caves of Khandagiri and Udayagiri, the Nandankanan Zoological and Botanical Park, and the ancient excavation site of Sisupalgarh. Indira Gandhi memorial Park lies at the centre of the city.
