The temple:

The temple is located in between Khalikote and Balugaon on the foot hill of Bhaleri mountain and a famous place in eastern ghats. One can approach it by going on from Narayani chowk on N.H- 05, Bhubaneswar – Berhampur Road. Goddess Narayani (Mahisasuramardini Durga) with six hands is the dwelling deity of this temple. Varaha, Yaksha & Bharabahaka are the other collections in the temple compound. The temple is constructed using sandstone and the exterior surface is coated with pink colour varnish. The splendid beauty of a permanent spring and the mango groves are the other attractions of this place which attracts several devotee and picnickers everyday.

History:

The history of this temple is attached with Ex-ruler of Khalikote states and expected to be built in 18th century A.D. Durga puja is one of the major celebration of the temple. Marriage, thread ceremony, etc. are held here regularly.

From Narayani Temple District headquarter is at 48 kms and state capital is at 120 kms. Nearest railway stations are Chilika – 5 kms. Ballugaon – 15 kms of south eastern. Railways
